Cancer treatments and chronic illnesses are debilitating at any time but especially so during the teenage and young adult years. Yet we often find limited services available to the AYA population.
The MIP Foundation seeks to provide many opportunities for an AYA (adolescent and young adult) oncology patient to feel empowered during their cancer journey. Whether using a MIP Kit to learn new ways to tackle difficult feelings or being encouraged to discover what self-care practices work for well for themselves, The MIP Foundation is here to help AYA patients.
The goals of The MIP Foundation are to equip AYA patients with coping skills and a stronger sense of mental wellness to better deal with cancer, while fostering peer relationships at a time when they are needed most. Improved mental health skills are necessary, not only to better deal with the immediate crisis, but the life long medical journey that a cancer diagnosis may bring with it.
If you are the parent or caregiver of a teenager or a young adult oncology patient and interested in one of our programs, we encourage you to reach out to your Social Worker or email Melissa.theMIPfoundation@gmail.com.
