Who is a MIP?

Every teenage or young adult oncology patient is the Most Important Person in their treatment plan. Each MIP is their own unique person, so much bigger than their cancer diagnosis.

A MIP is working hard to make sense of their cancer diagnosis while navigating a unique and very important developmental stage, becoming an adult.

It is important for each teen or young adult to assemble a strong “tool box” of skills to help process and cope with the continued challenges of a cancer diagnosis. To find an ageappropriate role in their cancer treatment and develop a voice that is heard by their support people and medical team, will create long lasting benefits beyond their cancer diagnosis.

She is typically very sweet and polite, but a little quiet and serious. Well after giving her the kit I have NEVER seen her so happy before... Since her relapse she has been very withdrawn and down, and in this moment she was so happy and giddy. She LOVED all of the books, and the post card idea - I know her application was unique and challenging, but you definitely hit it out of the park”
